25th Anniversary Gala with Founders, Funders and Friends!
On Thursday, May 16th, at Salem Country Club in Peabody, North Shore Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) will do something that many may have thought could not be done: reach a milestone anniversary with founders, funders and friends!
“Twenty five years ago”, says Executive Director Cynthia McClorey, “rarely had anyone heard about mediation. Now, mediation is better understood and the work we do has expanded throughout Essex County. As part of a network of community mediation centers, NSCMC has been a leader in providing programs and services that help people of all ages resolve conflicts. Some of our most exciting programs, targeted at school-age youth, actually help students before they get in serious trouble.”
The celebration will honor the funders who have supported the Center and made it possible for it to meet its mission. We will highlight the youth programs that continue to increase as the need arises for ways for students to learn how to listen and respond before raising their fists. “It seems that this is the moment when our services are understood in the larger community and truly valued,” says Anya McDavitt, Youth Programs Director.
The evening will feature a special performance by Improv Boston. “Who knew that improvisation is closely related to mediation” comments Sandy Sheckman, Board President. “We think the connect is astounding!” For more information about the event and to buy tickets, please call the office at (978) 232-1212.
