North Shore Community Mediation Center (NSCMC) offers help to couples who wish to work out the details of their separation equitably while avoiding the often bitterly contentious, prolonged and public litigation battle.
NSCMC provides specially trained and experienced mediators who can guide the parties through the many aspects of separation, including the initial separation, asset and debt division, parenting plans (custody and visitation), spousal support (alimony), and child support.
Mediation is especially helpful to separating couples who have children because mediation provides a constructive approach to future communication based on the child’s best interest, a most important consideration of the court. Mediation is an effective method for considering future issues, exploring contingencies and developing solutions to meet those bumps in the road before they are reached.
Mediation often results in separation agreement. Most judges welcome mediated separation agreements because by reaching agreement in mediation, the couple has demonstrated to the court an ability to work successfully together. And, where there are children involved, demonstrated parental cooperation is important for the children, and to the court, which must approve the separation agreement. Hours/Location: Mediation sessions are held during the day and/or early evening at the NSCMC office in Beverly, MA. Fees: Each party pays a non-refundable Intake Fee ($25) prior to scheduling the first mediation session. During the first session rates are determined based on income level and a sliding fee scale.
Questions or to begin the process: Please contact NSCMC at 978-232-1212 or email@example.com to schedule an intake with a NSCMC Divorce Mediation Coordinator.
