Our Mission

The NSCM Conflict Resolution Education Collaborative seeks to enhance all learning environments and the well-being of students, teachers and administrators by sharing the knowledge and effective tools of conflict resolution and mediation to create a more peaceful environment where constructive learning and relationships can flourish.

What We Do

We implement SchoolPeer Mediation Programs that offer a voluntary, confidential process during which student mediators assist other students in conflict to resolve disputes. We provide a twenty hour training for schools where students learn through role play and conflict theory real world skills such as active listening, communicating feelings, building trust and brainstorming. These students become ambassadors at their schools and are effective mediators because they understand their peer’s issues which makes the problem-solving process more natural.

We offer Customized Conflict Resolution Trainings to students and staff at schools, after-school programs, youth groups, camps and any other group that identifies as a youth educator. NSCM’s Conflict Resolution Education Coordinator will help your school identify what type of conflict resolution program will best serve your school’s needs.

We invite you to attend our annual Peer Mediator’s Forum which brings students from different school together to share insights, experience and current trends in peer mediation and conflict resolution. The forum will be held in the spring of 2010.
